Article #7

So recently I have read The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I found the book to be amazing!!! Though it may be inappropriate to some of the young readers, as sexual and violent scenes are depicted within the pages of the book. But I'll tell you what it's about anyways.
The book is told through letters sent from a the main character, Charlie(not his real name), and you read as the letters are composed of his first year in high school. Charlie meets two people, Sam and Patrick, at a football game and instantly become friends. Sam is patrick's step-sister, originally thought to be his girlfriend. Patrick is gay and having an affair with another high school boy, the quarterback or something of the sorts. But the book many times are flashbacks into Charlie's past, his very traumatized past, and usually they're about his Aunt who died or his therapist sessions and being in the hospital.
Through out the book it really gets you thinking about so many things, like how people do the same things as you somewhere in this world, how none of us are perfect/normal/ unique. It's characters and plot are well developed and you can really understand the reason behind everything they do or say. But personally, I loved and extremely hated the ending(i won't tell you what it was). The ending just made me so sad, how after everything, Charlie still wasn't happy or even remotely okay...it irked me to the core! WHY COULDN'T THEY JUST LET CHARLIE BE HAPPY?!?!

Do you want to donate bone marrow? Well now there's an easy and simple way to do so, and it's just as convenient. A new product is a bandage kit, normal, simple, but it has an envelope inside. The envelop is for your blood to send to the bone marrow registry after you've gotten a cut. Now don't think you have to cut yourself to give the blood. You accidentally cut yourself while cooking, paper cuts, anything. Just after using a bandage send it to the bone marrow registry in the envelope and there, done.
After this creation, by Graham Douglas, no one has to fear(as much) of bone marrow registry, as now the process is more simple, relaxed. Most people don't because of its inconvenience and torture process. From now on it should be a better chance for anyone in need of bone marrow :)

Daniel Radcliffe attends the NFL draft on April 26, 2012! The NFL draft on the 26th that night was held at Radio City Music Hall where people saw Daniel Radcliffe in the house, many surprised. Apparently, he is an avid NFL fan and has recently become particularly preoccupied with the game and also is a New York Giants fan. He also has always dreamed of being at the [NFL] draft.

A 'Two and a Half Men' ad promoting rerun episodes with Charlie Sheen still in the show. The L.A. TV network is trying to use this as a new marketing campaign. I guess some people can't seem to handle the replacement of Charlie for Ashton Kutcher and the KTLA realize this predicament.
I for one, find it really interesting that the TV network has the idea to advertise reruns. The L.A. TV network clearly is using the viewers anguish over the loss of Charlie Sheen(from the show) and turning it around to their advantage and creating advertisements for reruns of the show. Genius.

Attention Drawling, Mysterious Geologic Structure

A huge, orange- brown formation in West Africa dominates a hypnotic photo taken by an astronaut aboard the International Space Station.
Dutch astronaut Andre Kuipers snapped this hypnotic image of the so-called Richat structure in Mauritania, as the space station obited over the Sahara Desert on the Atlantic Coast of West Africa. Erosion of the various rock layers created the ring-like features that make up the sprawling structure, but the origin of the Richat structure remains somewhat mysterious, geologists have said.
The photo shows Kuipers' unique vantage point from the orbiting complex, which flies approximately 240 miles (386 kilometers) above the surface of the Earth. The image was taken on March 7 using a Nikon D2Xs camera.
During their months-long stints aboard the International Space Station, astronauts often perform Earth observations for science and public outreach.
Throughout their mission, many spaceflyers maintain active social media presences, such as on Twitter or Google+, to share stunning views from space with members of the public.
Space agencies also use photos taken by astronauts to engage students and space enthusiasts in geography, planetary science and human spaceflight.
There are currently six people living and working on the space station: Kuipers, Americans Dan Burbank and Don Pettit, and Russian cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov, Anatoly Ivanishin and Oleg Kononenko. Burbank is commander of the station's Expedition 30 mission.

Blind Dog Gets Her Eyesight Back

A very sick and abandoned dog is found lying in the middle of a cluster of trash somewhere in Los Angeles. Volunteers at the animal rescue operation Hope for Paws had heard about the dog and brought a video camera with them to document their efforts. The video might make you cry, but its ending will also undoubtedly leave you with a smile on your face.
When they found the dog, she was blind in both eyes and reportedly had the worst case of fleas they had ever seen. Throughout the video, you get to observe the dog, which they named "Fiona," experience an astonishing "comeback". After a nationwide fundraising and awareness effort, Fiona was able to receive an expensive surgery that restored vision to one of her eyes.
