So recently I have read The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I found the book to be amazing!!! Though it may be inappropriate to some of the young readers, as sexual and violent scenes are depicted within the pages of the book. But I'll tell you what it's about anyways.The book is told through letters sent from a the main character, Charlie(not his real name), and you read as the letters are composed of his first year in high school. Charlie meets two people, Sam and Patrick, at a football game and instantly become friends. Sam is patrick's step-sister, originally thought to be his girlfriend. Patrick is gay and having an affair with another high school boy, the quarterback or something of the sorts. But the book many times are flashbacks into Charlie's past, his very traumatized past, and usually they're about his Aunt who died or his therapist sessions and being in the hospital.
Through out the book it really gets you thinking about so many things, like how people do the same things as you somewhere in this world, how none of us are perfect/normal/ unique. It's characters and plot are well developed and you can really understand the reason behind everything they do or say. But personally, I loved and extremely hated the ending(i won't tell you what it was). The ending just made me so sad, how after everything, Charlie still wasn't happy or even remotely okay...it irked me to the core! WHY COULDN'T THEY JUST LET CHARLIE BE HAPPY?!?!
